Reselling TipsWhile reselling, there are two common mantras that are just as useful as they were when people made them up. "Buy Low, Sell High" and "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." However, for just Neopets, there are a couple other tips to keep in mind as well, this guide will attempt to give a couple tips on making money through reselling, but be sure to remember that there is no right way to resell other than "Buy Low Sell High"
Whenever you resell, be sure to be aware of your Profit to Investment to Time ratio. Is it really worth 11 million NP to make 50k? Yes if it takes you 2 hours and you have 40 million more NP to spend. In this case you also have to think about your opportunity costs. If you have two choices, either buy a Sword of Skardsen for 10.8 mill and resell it for 50k higher, or buy a thyoras tear for 48 mill and sell it 5 mill higher, which one's the better investment? That brings us to our second class of reselling, HTS. While it's easy to keep track of one item when you sell it a couple hours later, when you have 50 items to sell and it takes you months to sell them, you start forgetting how much you sell them for. In this case, it's time to make an Excel graph in Microsoft Excel, an EXTREMELY powerful spreadsheet program, or at least make a paper table of some sort. It should look something like this:
As you can sell, make 5 rows. In the Profit Row, type in "=SUM(D2-C2)", then select the lower right hand corner of that box and drag it vertically straight down. This will subtract the price you bought it at from the price you sold it at, which means it'll automatically calculate your profit amount. I suggest you also make a Totals Amount at the bottom, which will be the Sum of that column. Look at the top for the strange Greek looking E that's next to the Sorting button, and click that when you're under the column you want to add up. There's also one other type of reselling, called News Speed reselling. Basically, you keep an eye on the News, and if a new item becomes wearable, a new disease comes out on the Wheel of Excitement, or something like that occurs, you go to the shop wizard and start buying up as many of that item that you think will inflate. If it's a new wheel disease or a wearable, many other people will be doing the same, so the price will rise very fast. However, you should sell sometime in the middle, for after everyone's done hoarding, the prices will start dropping, sometimes very fast. It's hard to know when to time it, and it's never the same, so you just have to have the instincts or luck to know when to sell. Conclusion:Buy Low, Sell High, and keep track of your investments and profits. Try not to buy things you feel are too expensive for their price, and know that retired items that do unique things usually inflate unless an alternative comes out. Other than that, there's not much else to say, so good luck reselling! |
